Smoothie King: A New Smoothie Subscription Service
Role: Product Designer
Agency: Material Plus
Timeline: Feb-Apr 2022

project overview
Nourish Daily is a new subscription service by Smoothie King that delivers fresh, ready-to-blend smoothie ingredients ('purpose' protein powders + frozen fruit 'ingredient blends' ) straight to customers’ doors.
The goal was to build a mobile experience for the MVP including a homepage, registration/log-in, location-selection for pickup and delivery, customization, checkout, plus a product quiz.
The project was executed with a rapid pace of 3 design sprints with close collaboration between the client and a compact design team of two.
usability testing results
We facilitated one round of moderated usability tests with 8 participants to evaluate clarity, task flow, and overall friction across the MVP Nourish Daily experience. Users completed five core tasks aligned with key business goals (education, guided personalization, box creation, and purchase).

process and methods
We began with a best-in-class competitive exploration to identify strong interaction models for the MVP experience. Because our focus was on customization and checkout, we referenced established eCommerce leaders such as Amazon, Apple, Nordstrom, and Sephora to benchmark intuitive, high-performing flows.
Next, we mapped user journeys for both new and returning users to ensure a seamless experience from discovery to checkout. Working closely with the client, we built a feature backlog outlining content, functionality, and dependencies for each user task. From these insights, we created wireframes and low-fidelity prototypes, which evolved into interactive, high-fidelity designs once structure and logic were validated.
We conducted one round of usability testing with eight participants to evaluate clarity, navigation, and task comprehension. Feedback from testing informed refinements in layout hierarchy, microcopy, and progression logic across key flows.
